How do I book a session?
If you would like to book a session you can click on the “Contact Me” tab at the top of this page or email me directly at KimberlyMuroPhotography@gmail.com. I will respond to your email within 48 hours. From there we can schedule a date for your session and I will send you my reservation form.
When should I schedule my family session?
I typically book one to two months in advance. The fall season books very quickly so if you’d like photos during that time of year, or for holiday cards, please email me in August to reserve your spot.
When should I schedule a maternity photo session?
Maternity sessions are ideally photographed between 30-36 weeks of pregnancy. That said, you should schedule this approximately 6 weeks in advance of that time frame to ensure availability. You want to aim for that window where your belly is prominent and round, but you aren’t yet feeling uncomfortable.
When is the best time to schedule a newborn session?
You can tentatively schedule a newborn session during your last trimester. The exact session date will be decided once your baby is born, but should be during the first 4-10 days of life. This allows for the baby to still be in that perfect newborn sleepy stage, making posing easier. If your newborn is older than 10 days I will hold a lifestyle only session without any backdrops, props, poses, etc.
What happens if I cannot make my scheduled session?
I do understand that emergencies arise! Please try to give me as much notice as possible so I can schedule another session for your date and we can reschedule your session for a better time. Your deposit can then be used towards your rescheduled date.
What should I expect at a session?
Your photo session will be fun, relaxed, and enjoyable for the whole family. My greatest joy in photographing families, couples, and children is being able to snap those special moments of pure happiness and natural interactions. At the start of your session I will take a moment to get to know everyone. With young children we may begin with some silly dance moves or a quick conversation to break the ice.
During an average session we will spend approximately one hour taking photos, though we will be able to stop for breaks, a quick snack, or the opportunity to allow everyone to regroup. Your session will never be rushed. Occasionally I will give direction during your session, however I encourage you to interact with each other just as you would if I were not there. Those candid moments are the ones you will remember most years from now! If you have any specific ideas for poses or something special in mind for your session, please let me know. I welcome your ideas and will be more than happy to accommodate those requests.
What should we wear to our session?
Many clients have asked my advice on what to wear for family sessions. My first suggestion is to decide on a theme. What is your vision? Do you prefer more formal traditional photos? Or are you aiming to capture a casual, more playful side? Once you have that answer, it gives a bit of direction on where to go for clothing choices. You can always bring a change of clothes as well to give your session a different look.
As for coloring, I believe that colorful is better. More saturated tones, such as blues, reds, purples and yellows, tend to pop more in photos. White typically does not photograph well, so I would suggest avoiding too much of it. In larger groups, try to coordinate rather than match each color. It’s best to pick a few colors and mix them all in. An easy way to achieve a different look within one session is to utilize layers. It’s easy to remove a jacket or sweater to give the next batch of photos a whole different feel!
How long will it take to receive the final photos?
Within 48 hours after your session I will post a sneak peek on my FACEBOOK PAGE. You are welcome, and encouraged to, tag yourself in these photos as well!
Approximately 2 weeks after your session you will receive your edited high resolution digital images via digital download. At this time you will also be able to view your images in an online gallery. Here you can purchase any additional prints or items. All online galleries will be password protected, so only you will have access to them. Your online gallery will remain active for 30 days after posting. Once your images are chosen, they will be submitted to my printing lab.
May I purchase a gift certificate for a friend or family member?
Yes, of course! Gift certificates can be purchased in any dollar amount and used towards a session fee or print packages. Gift certificates will be delivered once full payment is received. Please email me at KimberlyMuroPhotography@gmail.com for any questions or to purchase a gift certificate.
